THE NEW PATHS OF THE PORTUGUESE GUITAR
The project TRILHOS -- "Novos Trilhos da Guitarra Portuguesa" (Paths -- "The New Paths of the Portuguese Guitar"), had its formalized beginning in the year 2002, resulting from the joining of four musicians with experience in different areas of Portuguese music. The Portuguese guitar played by Rui Vinagre talks with Quiné on percussion, Miguel Calhaz on the double bass and Marco Figueiredo on the piano.
The repertory combines original themes from the musicians, some with more than ten years of existence, in a fusion of instruments and styles, on a setting of ambiences, sometimes improvised, in paths, that go from jazz to Portuguese traditional music, in an innovative proposal on the scenery of the Portuguese musical culture, and on the performance of the Portuguese guitar.
With this work we intend to divulge this instrument, symbol of national identity, in a musical form not very common, in which we hope to awake the curiosity of every listener.
